JLC Group are a multidisciplined UK engineering Company designing, installing, and maintaining specialist systems ranging from bomb blast doors to Fixed Electrical Ground Power. But as they continue to develop and as the future evolves, they are looking at creating their own electrical vehicles such as their JLC Orca Van, ECO-Van Electric Vehicle, ECO-Car Electric Vehicle, etc.

JLC group came to Rex to get their electric Orca van insulated to a chilled specification. Their electric Orca Van is brand new to the UK, it has zero emissions, it is congestion zone compliant and has a payload of 850kg. They needed the van to be lightweight, so it didn’t affect the range of the vehicle as well as making sure it is strong and durable.

However, this conversion was a little different to others we have done as the condenser was mounted within the chassis. The unit installed is the new fully integrated electric Dometic Frigo DC2500, which has been developed and made to answer to new generation vans with tight engine compartments while also adhering to WLTP. This is the perfect partner for the all-electric Orca Van due to its compact size.

We loved being part of this project as the popularity for electric vehicles continue to grow. It’s exciting to see how the future in refrigerated vehicles is changing and we are keen to evolve and innovate with these changes and working alongside great companies like JLC Group and Dometic!
